In the present invention, there is disclosed a wide area lighting effects system for providing lighting over a subject area to pick-up thereof with a television, motion picture, video or photography camera, said system comprising: a frame (302) comprising a mounting surface on it front side, said frame (302) defining an opening positioned substantially in the center of said mounting surface; an arrangement of low power lights (305) arranged on said mounting surface, said lower power lights (305) oriented so as to distribute light over a wide area and thus to provide appropriate light intensity for lighting the subject; and a camera mounting assembly (330) for fixedly attaching said frame (302) to a movable a rotatable camera (140) such that the camera (140) is positioned to view through the opening (303) within said frame (302) wherein said camera mounting assembly (330) comprises a camera clamp (334), which preferably includes a generally U-shaped clamping portion (336), which may be securely attached along the housing of a camera (140), and may advantageously be moved along an elongated arm (332) and clamped into a suitable position using a fixing member (335). The frame (302) includes a receptor for receiving the fixing member (335) of the camera mounting assembly (330) for attaching said camera mounting assembly (330) to the frame (302) wherein the mounting assembly receptor (320) includes a socket (323) to receive the fixing member (335) on the camera mounting assembly (330). The fixing member (335) is attached to the elongated arm (332), along which the camera clamp (334) is slidably engaged. |
