<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side airbag apparatus capable of effectively protecting an occupant even when a body side part is largely deformed toward inside of a cabin at the time of collision. <P>SOLUTION: In the state where an airbag 16 is deployed and expanded, an upper compartment 18 corresponding to a shoulder Ps of an occupant P and an intermediate compartment 20 corresponding to a thorax Pc are formed. The airbag 16 is provided with a seam 17 for regulating swelling of the intermediate compartment 20. Due to the seam 17, the thickness of the upper compartment 18 becomes larger than that of the intermediate compartment 20, at the time of development and expansion of the airbag 16. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
