PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constant velocity universal joint having high crack-proof strength and high stability in its dimension, and superior in its rolling fatigue life. SOLUTION: This constant velocity universal joint has an outer joint member 5, an inner joint member such as a tripod member 2, and a power transmitting member such as a roller 7 mounted between the both members. At least one of the outer joint member 5, the tripod member 2 and the roller 7 has a carbonitriding layer. The grain size number of austenite crystal grain of the member is within a range over No.10.
