PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device, with which a microlens array of uniform thickness efficiently condensing light from a backlight light source to a transmission region is formed on the rear surface of a liquid crystal panel, and further strength of the liquid crystal panel subsequent to the microlens array formation is increased, so as to make handling thereof easy. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the liquid crystal display device which has a structure to transmit the light from the backlight light source from the transmission region and which has the microlens array formed between the backlight light source and the transmission region, comprises a step to form concave recessions on the rear surface of the liquid crystal panel as a microlens array forming region and to fill the concave recessions with a microlens forming material composed of a photosetting resin or the like, so as to form a uniform layer, and a step to harden the microlens forming material layer to form the microlens array with thickness not exceeding depths of the concave recessions.
