PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that an absorbing member cannot be used efficiently due to the uneven progress of permeation because permeation of a recording liquid to the absorbing member is not controlled. SOLUTION: A waste liquid tank 100 is provided with a tank case body 101, the absorbing member 102 which absorbs the recording liquid stored in the case body 101 and a lid member 102 covering the top of the case body 101, wherein press members 114 partially pressing the absorbing member 102 are formed on the lid member 103, and a section having a compression ratio different from that of the other section is formed in the absorbing member 102 to control the permeation speed and the permeation direction.
