PURPOSE: A staggered head stitch shift for a continuous feed direct marking printer is provided to enlarge image formation area when a controller and a patch are printed within the entire image formation area. CONSTITUTION: A staggered head stitch shift for a continuous feed direct marking printer comprises an image receiving surface(14) and a stitch line. The image receiving surface moves from an image forming device(10) toward a process. The stitch line is multiple printing head arrays. The multiple printing head arrays are located differently in the process direction. Each printing head array comprises multiple print heads(20) arranged across the image receiving surface in the direction of an intersection process.
