PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a channel matrix arithmetic unit which can calculate channel matrices of all subcarriers within an OFDM symbol period and enables transmission reception antennas to be adaptive to an M×N system. SOLUTION: An inverse matrix arithmetic section 303 includes: an inverse matrix processing section 401a that calculates an inverse matrix C<SB>11</SB><SP>-1</SP>of a 2×2 matrix C<SB>11</SB>and an inverse matrix C<SB>22</SB><SP>-1</SP>of a 2×2 matrix C<SB>22</SB>, as to 2×2 matrices C<SB>11</SB>, C<SB>22</SB>, C<SB>21</SB>and C<SB>12</SB>resulting from dividing a 4×4 matrix C; matrix multiplication modules (A) 402a, 402b, 403a and 403b for processing matrix multiplication of C<SB>21</SB>C<SB>11</SB><SP>-1</SP>C<SB>12</SB>and C<SB>12</SB>C<SB>22</SB><SP>-1</SP>C<SB>21</SB>; matrix subtraction modules 404a, 404b for processing subtraction of C<SB>22</SB>-C<SB>21</SB>C<SB>11</SB><SP>-1</SP>C<SB>12</SB>and C<SB>11</SB>-C<SB>12</SB>C<SB>22</SB><SP>-1</SP>C<SB>21</SB>; and inverse matrix processing sections 405a, 405b for calculating inverse matrices (C<SB>22</SB>-C<SB>21</SB>C<SB>11</SB><SP>-1</SP>C<SB>12</SB>)<SP>-1</SP>and (C<SB>11</SB>-C<SB>12</SB>C<SB>22</SB><SP>-1</SP>C<SB>21</SB>)<SP>-1</SP>.
