发明名称 METHOD FOR COLOR VISUALIZATION OF MUSIC
摘要 A method for color visualization of music makes it possible not only to reproduce the pitch in specific color but also to compose the visual image characteristic of the melody to be interpreted with the aid of the multicolor spots. The musical sounds are transformed into electric oscillations. The wavelength of each oscillation is analyzed filling the time of each oscillation with counting pulses. The corresponding numbers within each oscillation input are memorized and divided arithmetically in computer. The quotient obtained represents the interval coefficient characterizing the melodic interval between the notes. The emitter of the specified color is switched on according to the value of the interval coefficient. The ratio between the pitches of each melody is kept individual independent of the key and the octave in which the melody is sounded. Therefore, the succession of the multicolor signals corresponds uniquely to each melody. The color corresponds to the pitch of the tone as well as the octave. The color corresponding to the pitch is produced by multivibrator with variable relative pulse duration and pulse repetition cycle switching in turn red and green photodiodes. The color is perceived by the eye depending on the ratio between the times of the successive emissions of red and green photodiodes. The color is assigned according to the number of the counting pulses encompassed by one wavelength of the oscillation being analyzed. The light emitters expressing the pitch and the simultaneous interval coefficients are located in one section of the field of view while the light emitters expressing the consecutive interval coefficients are located in other section. The tones of the bass octaves are illuminated with blue photodiodes. The invention may be used in sound-and-light show devices allowing for visualization of the individual characteristics pertaining to each specified melody, namely the pitch of the tone, the consecutive (melodic) intervals and simultaneous (harmonic) intervals. Such principle makes it easier for people with diminished hearing or even loss of hearing to perceive the sounds of music. Furthermore, the invention will be useful in learning the basics of music and musical harmony.
