PURPOSE: Yarn winding machine and method are provided to enable the tension of each yarn to be within an allowable range of tension since a plurality of bobbins are installed on one winding shaft and the tension difference between yarns is removed. CONSTITUTION: A yarn winding machine comprises a winding shaft, a plurality of traverse units, a plurality of tension measuring devices and a traverse speed change unit. A plurality of bobbins are installed on the winding shaft simultaneously. The traverse device traverses a plurality of yarns, which are wound on the bobbins, respectively. The tension measuring device measures the tension of the yarns, which are wound on the bobbins, respectively. The traverse speed change unit increases or decreases the traverse speed of the traverse device so that the measured tension of the yarn is within an allowable range of tension.
