PURPOSE: A display device and a method of providing a digital interface are provided to add a circuit for controlling an HPD signal about a connected media source device despite power off of TV, thereby preventing initial signal distortion when the TV power is applied. CONSTITUTION: An HDMI(High Definition Multimedia Interface) control unit(11) of a display device includes a control circuit of an HPD(Hot Plug Detect) signal despite power off. If a media source device is connected in a hot plug detection method, an HDMI input port(12) applies a fixed voltage for forming a clock communication line to the HDMI control unit. If the display device is turned off, driving by an unintended HPD signal is blocked by 5V. 5V voltage is applied from the media source device.
