PURPOSE: A system for automatically tracking moving subjects and a method thereof are provided to set an auto focusing area by automatically tracking movement of an object, thereby accurately tracking a route of a moving object. CONSTITUTION: An image processing unit(120) designates a background ROI(Region Of Interest) and an object ROI in an image. The image processing unit automatically focuses on an object in the object ROI. A background movement sensing unit(130) tracks background movement in the background ROI. An object movement sensing unit(140) tracks object movement in the object ROI. An AF controller(150) applies an AF command to the tracked object.
