Cosmetic composition in the form of emulsion for topical application on keratin material, preferably skin, comprises: (i) an aqueous phase (30-70 wt.%); (ii) at least one 2-8C mono alcohol (at least 5 wt.%); and (iii) at least one dispersion of bismuth oxychloride (Cl 77163) in an oil comprising (a) monoesters (I), and/or (b) polar oil in which solubility parameter is greater than 6 (J/cm 3>) 1> > 2>at 25[deg] C, in a medium. Cosmetic composition in the form of emulsion for topical application on keratin material, preferably skin, comprises: (i) an aqueous phase (30-70 wt.%); (ii) at least one 2-8C mono alcohol (at least 5 wt.%); and (iii) at least one dispersion of bismuth oxychloride (Cl 77163) in an oil comprising (a) monoesters of formula (R 1COOR 2) (I), and/or (b) polar oil in which solubility parameter is greater than 6 (J/cm 3>) 1> > 2>at 25[deg] C, in a medium. R 1 : 4-40C, preferably 7-20C hydrocarbon chain; and R 2 : 3-40C, 16-26C hydrocarbon chain. An independent claim is included for a preparation of an emulsion comprising introducing the dispersion of bismuth oxychloride comprising 68-72 wt.% of bismuth oxychloride in 28-32 wt.% of 2-ethyl hexyl hydroxy stearate, in a fatty phase, separately preparing the aqueous phase, and carrying out under agitation and at ambient temperature, preferably using deflocculator of Rayneri to obtain emulsion and incorporating 2-8C monoalcohol under moderate agitation.
