The suction-combustion engine has working cylinders (12) and the cyclical filling of the working cylinders with combustion air take place exclusively by a low pressure with respect to the environment pressure. An exhaust gas recirculation system is arranged in an exhaust gas system (24) of the suction-combustion engine. A diesel particulate filter (34) is arranged in the exhaust gas system of the suction-combustion engine. The exhaust gas recirculation system is so configured and arranged that the exhaust gas to be recirculated is extracted downstream the diesel particulate filter.
