DESULFURIZING METHOD AND DEVICE OF FUEL OIL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce (desulfurize) a sulfur content in a fuel oil.SOLUTION: A desulfurizing method includes: a mixing treatment step of finely and homogeneously mixing the fuel oil as a continuous phase containing sulfur and water as a dispersion phase and bonding sulfur atoms in the fuel oil and hydrogen atoms in the water molecules to form a mixed liquid wherein the sulfur atoms are gathered on the surfaces of fine water droplets; and a separation treatment step of gathering the fine water droplets to separate a water phase containing sulfur from a fuel oil phase. The sulfur content in the fuel oil phase can be reduced (desulfurized) by forming a water droplet/fuel oil emulsion (W/O emulsion) and recovering the fuel oil phase.
