PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape printer which enables recognition of a tape type by visually checking the appearance of a tape cassette, and can obtain the same detection result as that in the case of visual checking.SOLUTION: A platen holder 12 of the tape printer 1 includes a plurality of arm detecting switches 210 at positions corresponding to an arm identification portion provided on an arm front surface 35 of the tape cassette 30 installed in a cassette housing portion 8. The arm identification portion has a plurality of identification portions each formed as either a surface portion to press the detecting switch or an aperture not to press the detecting switch on the basis of a pattern specified correspondingly to the tape type. The tape printer 1 detects the tape type on the basis of information which shows a press state or a non-press state of each arm detecting switch 210. |
