PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which focuses on the face of a person in a screen regardless of position/range of the person in the screen, to image the person without changing composition between in automatic focusing and in imaging.SOLUTION: A CPU 115a detects the face of a person from input image data, and sets at least a part of the detected face as a ranging area, in auto focus control.
