<p>Provided is a liquid crystal display device excellent in display characteristics, in which a high aperture ratio of a pixel can be achieved and the light transmittance and surface roughness can be improved by eliminating the orientation disturbance of liquid crystal molecules. A TFT array substrate (110) of the liquid crystal display device has a conductive portion (116b) disposed in a pixel partitioned by a source line (113) and a gate line (112), an insulating film (117) covering the conductive portion, and a contact hole (118) passing through the insulating film and electrically connecting a pixel electrode (119) and the conductive portion. When a substrate surface is viewed from a normal line direction, a slit (150) is formed in the pixel electrode (119) between the contact hole and the boundary of the pixel. An opposing substrate (130) has a projection (135) extending from one end to the other end of the pixel. The invention is applicable to a vertical orientation mode liquid crystal display device.</p> |
