PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical running control device and an economical running control method preventing execution of economical running control using a failed starter drive means even at the time of voltage drop.SOLUTION: A control device includes a control means executing economical running control stopping an engine on the basis of stop conditions and restarting the engine on the basis of restart conditions. The device also includes a test means performing a failure test of the starter drive means restarting the engine and an inhibition means inhibiting the control means from executing economical running control on the bases of test result of the test means. The inhibition means inhibits execution of economical running control if apply voltage applied on the starter drive means is less than a predetermined value during test period when the test means tests the starter drive means. Consequently, economical running control using the failed starter drive means is prevented even at the time of voltage drop. |
