PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing the risk or preventing the occurrence of an adverse event (AE) or serious adverse event (SAE) associated with a medical treatment including inhalation of nitric oxide.SOLUTION: The method includes: a. a step of identifying a human subject suitable for inhalation treatment of nitric oxide; b. a step of determining whether the patient has congenital left venticular dysfunction or not; and c. a step of inhalation treatment of nitric oxide if the patient does not have congenital left venticular dysfunction. The inhalation treatment of nitric oxide further includes inhalation or simultaneous ventilation of oxygen (O).
