PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a cationic thermosetting resin useful as a wet paper strength-enhancing agent that has excellent wet paper strength performance and does not contain an environmentally unfavorable AOX (adsorptive organic halide) in the resin.SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for the cationic thermosetting resin comprises allowing a polyamide polyamine, obtained by reacting (A) an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid with (B) a polyalkylene polyamine, to react with (C) a diepoxy compound, where (D) an acid is added before or during the reaction of (C).
