METHOD FOR A HANDOVER IN A MULTI-CELL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method for providing handover in a multi-cell communication system is provided to suggest a detailed scheme of determining a MS(mobile station), a cell, and a frequency band for handover, thereby enabling effective handover. An MS is determined among MSs existing in a corresponding cell. A handover cell, which is a cell for the handover of the determined MS, is determined among cells belonging to a multi-cell communication system. A handover frequency band, which is used by the determined MS to perform handover, is determined. If the handover frequency band is used by an existing terminal in the handover cell, a new frequency band to be used by the existing terminal is determined among a plurality of frequency bands except for the handover frequency band. A control operation is achieved such that the existing terminal uses the determined new frequency band, and the handover MS uses the handover frequency band.
