PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a still subtitle part included as a part of video or an image in a video signal in pixel units.SOLUTION: The still subtitle detection apparatus for detecting in pixel units a subtitle part included in an image in a video frame formed of a plurality of pixels includes a subtitle part determination part (133 to 136) and a still subtitle detection part (131 and 132). The subtitle part determination part determines, as the subtitle part, a pixel or pixel group on the high-luminance region side (white peak region side) that neighbors the detection position of an image edge (character edge), for example, where a luminance level changes. When it is detected that the subtitle part remains unchanged by comparing two continuous video frames (preceding frame and present frame) along the time axis, the still subtitle detection part detects the subtitle part as a still subtitle. |
