PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing carbon monoxide by which respective processes in the production of carbon monoxide can be stably operated from the beginning of operation start, and high purity carbon monoxide can be industrially and stably from the start of the operation.SOLUTION: The method of producing carbon monoxide includes: a carbon monoxide synthesizing step of obtaining a carbon monoxide-containing gas by passing an oxygen-containing gas to coke; a hydrolyzing step of obtaining a primarily purified gas by bringing the carbon monoxide-containing gas into contact with a hydrolyzing catalyst; and an alkali absorption step of obtaining a secondarily purified gas by bringing the primarily purified gas into contact with an alkali solution. Wherein, the primarily purified gas contains ≥5 ppm sulfur compound by volume, a temperature to transfer the primarily purified gas from the hydrolyzing step to the alkali absorption step is kept to a temperature at which iron sulfide is not deposited in the alkali absorption step from the start of the production. |
