PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a repellent having a sufficient repellent effect against cockroaches and durability.SOLUTION: A rosemary oil extract having a repellent effect against cockroaches obtained by purifying rosemary oil by chromatography is obtained by eluting rosemary oil from the column in which the rosemary oil is adsorbed on an adsorbent with the use of hexane or a hexane-diethyl ether mixed solvent as a developing solvent and thereafter eluting the residue with the use of diethyl ether and ethyl acetate as developing solvents, respectively. The cockroach repellent contains the rosemary oil extract.
