PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for improving bowel movement that is free from problems of conventional techniques such as an unpleasant feeling on taking it, bad taste and the like and exhibits excellent bowel movement-improving effects in a small amount.SOLUTION: The composition for improving bowel movement comprises a salt, a polymer compound and/or a glucide, where the composition has a colloid osmotic pressure of 20-100 mmHg and the polymer compound and the glucide have an energy conversion factor of 0-2 kcal/g. The polymer compound and the glucide are preferably a low-molecular weight sodium alginate and reduced maltose, respectively.
