The adjuster has a membrane (3) partitioning an operating space into a base (1) and cover (2). The operating space is attached at high or low pressure sources. A bar (7) is coupled with the membrane. A magnetic position sensor (8) causes movement of the bar, and a magnetic field sensor (9) i.e. hall-sensor, is provided for determining position of the sensor. The magnetic field sensor delivers angular information for determining the position of the position sensor and indicates an angle, at which a magnetic field line that emanates from the position sensor, impacts on the magnetic field sensor. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring a position of a bar that is movable in a longitudinal direction.
