PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine start control device and an engine start control method capable of starting an engine without prolonging a time uselessly.SOLUTION: The engine start control device to start the engine by the power of an electric motor comprises a start request judging part (S1) to determine whether a request for starting the engine is made or not, an excitation starting part (S3) to start the feed of an excitation current to the electric motor when a start request is made, an excitation threshold setting part (S5) to set a threshold to the excitation current on the basis of an engine state or a battery state when the start request is made, and a motor starting part (S7) to start the starting process of the motor when the excitation current exceeds the threshold. |
