PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection device and a shift device securing reliability to position detection, while simplifying a constitution including a magnetized pattern or the like of a magnet, and miniaturizing a conformation.SOLUTION: A magnet 14 displaced linearly in linkage with a shift lever includes a first magnetic pole part 31 bipolarized in a crossing direction to the displacement direction, and a second magnetic pole part 32 magnetized in multiple poles along the displacement direction; and also includes a plurality of magnetometric sensors of a magnetic field direction detection type corresponding to the first magnetic pole part 31, and a plurality of magnetometric sensors of a single pole detection type corresponding to the second magnetic pole part 32. The magnetometric sensor of the magnetic field direction detection type generates a binary signal corresponding to a change of the magnetic field direction following displacement of the magnet 14, and the magnetometric sensor of the single pole detection type generates a binary signal corresponding to the polarity of a corresponding magnetic pole, respectively. A combination of binary signals generated from each magnetometric sensor is based on a hamming code. |
