PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous dispersion containing hollow polymer particles having high dispersion stability, and providing filled paper having high whiteness and high opacity when applied to uses for the filled paper, and to provide a method for producing the aqueous dispersion.SOLUTION: The method for producing the aqueous dispersion includes: carrying out steps of polymerizing or copolymerizing a monomer or a monomer mixture (c) comprising 97-100 mass% of a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer and 3-0 mass% of an acidic group-containing polymer in the presence of core polymer particles (A) surrounded with an intermediate layer (B) using a surfactant represented by general formula (I): R-O-(CHCHO)-SOM (I) (wherein, R is 8-20C alkyl or alkenyl; M is an alkali metal ion or ammonium ion; and n is an integer of 20-70), and forming an outer layer (C) substantially surrounding the intermediate layer (B). |
