The system has a wave guide (11), transmission units for radiation of transmission. Receiving units receive the transmission power reflected at an object. The system changes its elevation radiation direction in a continuous or discrete manner over a preset region. The system is downwardly inclined against a road surface at different angles for detecting temporary and/or situation-dependent reduced response or failure of the elevation radiation direction to determine intensity of reflections from the road surface and to compare the intensity with intensity values resulting by normal response.
