<p>A pontoon or pier (10) contains a poured concrete deck (11) which is surrounded by an aluminium frame (12). Threaded steel tie rods (14) are embedded in the concrete and one end of the tie rods (14) are attached to the aluminium frame (12). To prevent galvanic corrosion caused by direct contact of the dissimilar metals of the steel tie rod (14) and the aluminium frame (12), a plastic isolation sleeve (18) is fitted between the tie rod (14) and the aluminium frame (12).</p> |
