FIELD: weapons and ammunition. ^ SUBSTANCE: slug of armour-piercing bullet consists of tail and head parts. Head part has ogival shape with apex angle of 90 - 120. Tail part is made in the form of flattened cone the smaller diametre of which is 0.90 - 0.97 of the diametre of the base of the slug head part. Tail part of slug has the shape of cylinder or flattened cone, which are connected to each other. In addition, coating from metal carbide or carbonitride or nitride is applied to slug surface. Coating thickness of the top of head part is 5.0-20.0 mcm, and thickness of coating of front section of the head part cone is 2.0-6.0 mcm. Coating thickness of rear section of the head part cone is 1.0-1.5 mcm, and coating thickness on the shank surface is maximum 1.0 mcm. ^ EFFECT: increasing penetrating performance of slug of armour-piercing bullet. ^ 1 dwg
