PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase visibility of an organic EL display device by maintaining the contrast of a screen.SOLUTION: A light-emitting element display device is provided, which displays images by emitting light, by applying a reference voltage to pixels where charges are accumulated based on a grayscale value. An APL (average picture level) calculating unit of a reference voltage calculating unit in a rectangular wave drive unit of a TFT substrate calculates the value of APL (step S21); and a ΔV calculation unit of the reference voltage calculation unit calculates a correction amount ΔV of the reference voltage, based on the APL value (step S22). The calculated correction amount ΔV is added to the reference voltage and is used as the voltage of a rectangular wave signal that is outputted to each pixel from the rectangular wave drive unit. In each pixel in which a data signal corresponding to the grayscale value is stored, an organic EL element emits a light that corresponds to the rectangular wave signal.
