PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the resolution of output without increasing the number of detection elements.SOLUTION: A position detection sensor 1 includes mounted heads H1 to H15, a virtual output calculation unit 11, an endmost detection element determination unit 12, and a detection signal generation unit 13. The mounted heads H1 to H15 are arranged at predetermined intervals in the direction of the width of a guide tape GT to detect the magnetic flux of the guide tape GT. The virtual output calculation unit 11 calculates the output of virtual heads arranged between the adjacent mounted heads by interpolation on the basis of the output result of the mounted heads H1 to H15. The endmost detection element determination unit 12 determines an endmost detection element of which the output is a predetermined threshold or above and which is at the endmost position out of the mounted heads H1 to H15 and the virtual heads. The detection signal generation unit 13 generates a position detection signal indicating the positional information of the guide tape GT on the basis of the position of the endmost detection element. |
