PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device and an electronic apparatus capable of suppressing image quality reduction resulting from external static electricity and to provide a method for manufacturing the liquid crystal device.SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal device 1, a liquid crystal layer 50 is sandwiched between an element substrate 10 as a first substrate and a counter substrate 20 as a second substrate; a pixel electrode 9 and a common electrode 19 are formed on the element substrate 10; the liquid crystal layer 50 is driven by an electric field generated between the pixel electrode 9 and the common electrode 19; an electrostatic shielding layer 40 as an electrostatic shield layer is formed on a surface on the liquid crystal layer 50 side of the counter substrate 20; and an alignment layer 25 is formed on the liquid crystal layer 50 side of the electrostatic shielding layer 40 via an insulating layer.
