PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passive Q-switched solid state laser oscillator and a laser ignition device which can oscillate highly efficient laser light while attaining size reduction.SOLUTION: The passive Q-switched solid state laser oscillator includes a cooling unit in which a first cooling holder holding an amplification medium and a second cooling holder holding a saturable absorption body are integrated, the amplification medium and the saturable absorption body are arranged with a space therebetween so that light passing through the amplification medium can be made incident to the saturable absorption body, a space projection region formed at a space projection to a projection plane intersecting perpendicularly with the axial direction of the cooling unit has an area including an amplification medium projection region formed at an amplification medium projection on a projection plane and a saturable absorption body projection region formed at a saturable absorption body projection on the projection plane.
