An apparatus for driving a backlight is provided to drive a plurality of LED(Light-Emitting Diode) arrays through one controller and one driving voltage generator by using a current generator and a current mirror circuit, thereby simplifying circuit configuration and making current balance of the arrays constant. An apparatus(100) for driving a backlight comprises n LED arrays(1101-110n), a driving voltage generator(112), a current generator(114), and a current mirror circuit(116). Each of the LED arrays includes a plurality of LEDs(L1-Lm) serially connected. The current generator generates current for driving each of the LED arrays by using the driving voltage. The current mirror circuit makes the same current flowing through the LED arrays according to current from one of the LED arrays.
