PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a long steel pipe, which enables the long steel pipe welded and connected to a short steel pipe to be suitable for weight savings and economic efficiency and enables the stable removal and correction of the long steel pipe, while the short steel pipe forming a panel zone has a straight cross section.SOLUTION: This method is used to manufacture the long steel pipe 9 which constitutes a steel pipe column 10 by performing welding and connection 16 of the short steel pipes 12A and 12B forming the panel zone. A tapered pipe body 8 having one end 8a formed in a smaller size than the other end 8b is manufactured; and at least one of the ends of the tapered pipe body 8 is molded as straight cross-section straight portions 9a and 9b. The tapered pipe-like long steel pipe having the end formed as the straight cross-section straight portion can be manufactured by molding at least one of the ends of the tapered pipe body. When the removal and correction of the long steel pipe are performed by cutting, grinding, etc. so that the long steel pipe can have a predetermined length before the long steel pipe is welded and connected to the short steel pipe, an end surface side of a straight end is partially removed and corrected. Thus, external dimensions after the removal and correction are kept in a constantly stable state by constantly maintaining an initial fixed value, without reference to the amount of the removal and correction. |
