PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonionic surfactant that is excellent in abilities of surface activity, such as foamability and emulsion dispersibility and reduces environmental loads because blending is performed at lower concentration than conventional surfactants, and that is nonirritant, excellent in biodegradability, and useful for various applications, such as detergents, emulsifiers, dispersants, solubilizing agents, stuffing agents, antistatic agents, dust preventing agents, and wetting and penetrating agents.SOLUTION: The nonionic surfactant is obtained by performing addition polymerization of 2-150 moles of ethylene oxide in total to a carboxy group of a 10-26C dihydroxy fatty acid and to at least one of the hydroxy groups. |
