PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To classify similar still images and extract the optimal still image among them when the similar still images are extracted.SOLUTION: A still image acquisition part 105 sequentially acquires still images by frame from video images input via a video input part 104. A feature calculation part 106 calculates feature indexes to the still images input by the still image acquisition part 105. A feature comparison part 107 holds feature indexes to be sequentially input, compares each feature index, calculates degrees of similarity of the images, classifies a plurality of input still images into a group constituted of the similar still images according to the degrees of similarity, holds information for specifying the still images and its classification information, and when processing of all the video images to be classified is completed, outputs the information for specifying the still images and its classification information to a still image selection part 108. The still image selection part 108 selects at least one still image from each group on the basis of the input classification information. |
