PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a centrifugal separator in which a specimen quantity for centrifugal separation at a time is increased while suppressing increase in diameter and weight of a rotor.SOLUTION: The centrifugal separator includes a rotor having a plurality of holding cavities for holding specimen containers, a driving part for rotating the rotor, and a chamber for forming a rotor chamber for housing the rotor. A transverse cross sectional shape of the holding cavity is a substantially triangular shape having three vertices, wherein the arrangement in the vertical direction of the holding cavity is formed in a manner that the holding cavity is inclined relative to the rotary shaft of the rotor so that the rotary radius increases from the upper opening to the bottom. The holding cavity is arranged such that one of the three vertices of the cross section is situated on the innermost circumference while the remaining two vertices are situated on an outer circumference side so as to have equidistance from the rotary shaft of the rotor. In the holding cavity, a substantially triangular specimen container is mounted in which the cross sectional shape has three vertices, wherein a screw type lid having a circular opening is attached to the upper part of the specimen container. |
