PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass substrate for a flat panel display in which yellowing produced when a silver electrode is formed on the surface can be suppressed, and also, upon heat treatment performed for forming a display element thereon, compaction generated therein can be reduced.SOLUTION: In the glass substrate for a flat panel display formed by a float process, the composition of the glass substrate is substantially composed, by mass percentage on the standard of oxides, of 50 to 72% SiO, 0.5 to 15% AlO, 4 to 30% MgO+CaO+SrO+BaO, >0 to 10% NaO, 1 to 21% KO, 0 to 1% LiO, 6 to 25% NaO+KO+LiO, 0 to 10% ZrOand 0.01 to <0.0725% FeO, and the average Fecontent in the surface layer from the top face of the glass substrate to a depth of 10 μm is ≤0.055% expressed in terms of FeO; a thermal shrinkage C is 250 to 520 ppm, and yellowing b* in the surface of the glass substrate is ≤5 after the surface of the glass substrate is applied with a silver paste, then fired and the silver paste is removed. |
