PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element capable of achieving high light extraction efficiency while reducing a malfunction rate related to formation of an electrode, and to provide a display device.SOLUTION: A light-emitting laminate 17 including an organic light-emitting layer 173 is inserted between primary planes of an anode 14 and a cathode 18. The anode 14 in the light-emitting element has a structure where a reflecting electrode layer 141 for reflecting light emitted from the organic light-emitting layer 173 of the light-emitting laminate 17 and a transparent electrode layer 142 penetrated with the emitted light are laminated each other. Here, the transparent electrode layer 142 in the anode 14 is arranged at a light-emitting laminate 17 side rather than a reflecting electrode layer 141. In the light-emitting element, a peripheral edge of the reflecting electrode layer 141 is arranged in a stepped shape, an upper surface of the reflecting electrode layer 141 in the Z-axis direction and the surface of the reflecting electrode layer covered with a protective film 15 at a peripheral edge of the reflecting electrode layer are covered with the transparent electrode layer 142. |
