PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decoding device and a decoding method reducing deterioration in Log-MAP correction capability. SOLUTION: The decoding device has a BM calculation part 11, which calculates a branch metric in a Log-MAP algorithm from received data and external information, an ACS operation part 12, which calculates a maximum value of a path metric on the basis of the branch metric, a correction-term calculation part 13 for calculating a Jacobian correction value of the path metric, and a correction operation part 14 that adjusts a value of the Jacobian correction value on the basis of size of the received data so as to correct the path metric by adding the adjusted correction value to the maximum value.
