METHOD FOR PREPARING OCTENYL SUCCINYLATED DEXTRIN USING DRY-HEAT TREATMENT PROCESS

A method for preparing octenyl succinate starch and dextrin is provided to make simple and effective, to produce no byproducts as compared with conventional methods by using a dry heating method and to control substitution degree and molecular weight by changing pH and heating conditions. Octenyl succinate is dispersed in 50 times the weight of water and added with 0.4 to 1% by weight of caustic soda while agitating at 25 to 70deg.C for 2hr to convert to a free acid form. The aqueous solution of octenyl succinate is added with 50 to 99.8% by weight of starch and then hydrochloric acid and caustic soda to adjust the pH of the solution, dried at 25 to 60deg.C until the moisture content of the mixed solution reaches less than 10%, ground and heated at 60 to 220deg.C for 30min to 10hr to cause the hydrolysis of starch and substitution of octenyl succinate.
