PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact socket for electronic components capable of retaining electronic components of different sizes. SOLUTION: When pressing force on a frame 20 is released, the frame 20 rises with biasing force of a first biasing member, when a link member 15 turns in a direction ofβ1 byθthrough a coupling shaft 17. Next, a second biasing member 18 presses a movable lever 13 toward a loading area 30A in front, so that a top face of an electronic component 1 is retained by pressing force in a vertical direction by a pressing part 13b of the movable lever 13. Since turning operation at retaining of the electronic component 1 can be allotted to two members of the movable lever 13 and the link member 15, a turning angle and a turning radius of the movable lever 13 are prevented from getting large, thereby enabling a compact socket.
