Transverse device and method for securing back linings

The lining unit (30) has a feeder i.e. driven roller, retracting a material web (25) transverse to a running direction of a book block. A cutting table (7) prefabricates the material web. A pivoting device (9) transfers lining strips to a lining transport unit (3), and is provided with a rotational axis and an upper vacuum table. The transport unit places the prefabricated material web in the running direction of the book block. The transport unit has a lower vacuum table and a perforated transport flat belt, which is driven synchronous to the book block. An independent claim is also included for a method for attaching a lining at a spine of a book block.
