A downhole tool for generating a drive force in a downhole environment. The tool includes a chamber 22 for storing a reactant 23, activating means 24 in an activator chamber for activating the reactant and isolation means 26 for isolating the activating means from the reactant. The isolation means 26 additionally is adapted to selectively expose the activating means 24 to the reactant 23 to activate the reactant 23 and generate a drive medium for driving a drive member 12 to generate the drive force. The reactant 23 comprises a chemical reactant such as an oxidising agent, e.g. hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), and the activating means 24 comprises a catalyst means such as a copper, iron or other metal based catalyst. In particular, the catalyst may comprise copper or iron sulphate. |
