The method involves exposing photo polymer and/or cylindrical-shaped flexographic printing element by a registered mask with an actinic light. A sleeve is provided on the flexographic printing element that is provided with a non-laser-ablated layer on a sleeve, and an intermediate chamber is provided between edges of the flexographic printing element. A laser-ablated layer is projected along a solvent and dissolved adhesive agent, where the edges of the flexographic printing element are covered by the laser-ablated layer that is dehydrated.
