<p>A steering device 200 comprising a main body 2 mounted on an electric vehicle and having opposite lateral sides and a pivot axle unit 3 mounted rotatably to the main body and having opposite rod portions 311 extending outwardly and respectively from opposite lateral sides 21 of the main body. A control unit (6, fig. 3) is coupled to the pivot axle unit for generating a control signal associated with forward or rearward movement of the electric vehicle in response to rotation of the pivot axle unit relative to the main body. An operating unit 4 is provided that is operable to drive rotation of the pivot axle unit and includes two mounting members 41 that are connected respectively to the rod portions of the pivot axle unit, and a connecting member 42 interconnecting the mounting members.
